Garlic Gouri with Evil Eye
Approx. 9cm
Garlic was placed by the ancient Greeks on the piles of stones at cross-roads, as a supper for Hecate — a goddess of the wilderness and childbirth, or for protection from demons.
The garlic was supposed to the evil spirits and cause them to lose their way.
Greeks believe that garlic has the power to keep evil away. You’ll often see braids of garlic, or large garlic heads dangling over the entryways of stores, restaurants, and homes.
Apart from warding off the evil eye, garlic is also assumed to keep away evil spirits and demons.
