Description
Komboskini Rope made of, usually, black woolen or silk thread knitted in knots. It is a prayer aid for monks, clergy and laity of the Orthodox Christian religion.ย All Orthodox monks and many lay people have a rosary, it is usually woolen and braided in various sizes.ย It can be worn on the wrist or it has a long length and its size is related to the number and size of the knots.ย It can have 33, 50, 100, 300 or more knots.
Rosary Symbols: It is usually woven from wool to symbolize that all believers are the rational sheep of Jesus Christ, and is black to symbolize the mourning of sins.
It ends up in a tassel whose purpose is to wipe away the tears.ย The 33 knots symbolize the years of Jesus,ย the 99 in 33 multiplied by the number of persons of the Holy Trinity and each knot of 9 braided crosses, symbolizing the nine orders of angels.ย In their classic form, the rosaries are made of black wool.ย However, there are also rosaries made of other materials, e.g.ย acrylics as well as other colors.
